8 Tips to Manage Social Media and Email Marketing
With so many e-books, guides, and webinars out there, I’m sure you’re wondering where do I start first when I want to improve my social and email marketing? There is no quick fix.
Honestly, you likely shouldn’t waste your time in a webinar since the information is usually regurgitated from sources online. You could spend time with a guide or e-book, but if you had enough time I imagine your marketing would already be achieving what you want it to.
Below are 8 simple tips to managing your social media and email marketing if you’re finally ready to scale your small business. Use them wisely!
Consistency
Be consistent with your content. Content calendars work for social media as well as emails. Your social calendar should include themes that fit your brand, but most importantly appeal to the interests of your audience. Your email calendar needs to align with three common stages for your brand: on boarding, engagement, and promotions.
Visual storytelling
Gone are the days of simply posting a photo and that’s all you need. On social, your content must include images, videos (short and long form) and Stories. All of these can be enhanced with graphics, color schemes, and effective structuring.
Segmentation
For email your audience isn’t a one size fits all. Tailor your email campaigns by audience—ex: returning customers vs new customers. This will be defined by your funnel and you can get as granular as you believe is necessary to move customers down the funnel (and repeat).
Understand how your audience uses social media
80% of users on Facebook and Instagram come for news and what interests them. This means that your social should only consist of 20% content prioritizing your brand. The rest should be you engaging in topics and conversations that align with your audiences’ interest.
Automation
For email you will find that automating emails will save you time and allow you to engage with your audience in real time. On boarding emails (i.e. Welcome Series) should be automated as should emails seeking feedback, like a survey to existing customers. This requires an ESP that offers automation, which will cost you a monthly or annual fee.
Hashtags, you hate them, you love them
They are best used on platforms like Instagram and Facebook. Research the hashtags your competitors use; those that frequently lead to exposure in Explore with Instagram; and always those relevant to your post, video, or story.
Build a repository of quality images of your product
If you are a service provider, then have quality videos of you offering tips or How-Tos. The more you build your repository up the less time you’ll waste trying to create or curate creative assets for the content you’ll run on social or in email.
Hire a marketing consultant
The tips above require high levels of time, effort, and creativity. A marketing consultant can give you back the time you need to scale your business in other areas. Schedule an appointment with Articulate You today to get your time back.
